I have not operated as a business since 2015.
I am not taking any custom orders for the foreseeable future.
This website is only available now to show friends some of my past work and the hobby I hope to find time to resume one day.
Hope you enjoy looking at my past work.
Me, the knives, the process, warranty, priorities.
I am Jarrett Rhodes. I live with my wife and three children in Alexandria Virginia now. My full time work has not allowed me to pursue knife making for many years.
The Lord has blessed me with a wonderful family and great opportunities. I recognize that everything we have and are able to do is through God’s blessings. He has provided me the opportunity to learn this craft and challenge myself in doing so. I do not claim to have made an indestructible knife; though I tried to every time.
I made my first knife at the age of 14. It was meant to replace a custom knife a good friend of my Dad’s had made for him which had been lost while hunting. We looked for hours and hours for that knife. I wanted him to have a hand-made knife so I took an old file and ground it down, stuck a deer antler on it and bam; my first knife. It was crude with a tapered grind and no heat treatment. I maintained an interest in blade smithing and knife making, and collecting for 25 years but never pursued it……until 2008. I began working to produce good, quality edged tools.
A great feature of Arkansas where I began is the Moran School of Bladesmithing in Old Washington and the numerous skilled blade smiths (Masters, Journeymen and Apprentices) of the American Bladesmith Society. These skilled craftsmen share their experience and knowledge to cultivate young smiths like myself. I want to take this moment to offer a special thanks to Uncle Al in De queen, AR. He is the owner of Riverside Machine Shop where he hosts a monthly hammer in. I have learned so much through participation there.
I do my best to ensure every knife is the best I could make. Some are refined more than others or receive more detail work but each is custom-made and the end result is a quality, durable, purpose-built knife.
I no longer make knives for sale so the following is just for reference of the commitment to quality and craftsmanship I once offered.
Further I offer two types of warranties. Purchaser satisfaction; your knife may be returned for any reason within ten days of receipt. Simply contact me and then return it in an unused condition if not satisfied. Lifetime workmanship; each knife is guaranteed against defect in craftsmanship, and construction for as long as I'm able to make knives. I apply the common sense test here; your knife will do what it is designed to do. If it fails you then I will refund the purchase price or build you a suitable replacement.
The blade steel I enjoyed using for mono steel knives is A2, O1, 15N20, 1080, and 5160. Each has a unique composition, and offers certain characteristics. Combine that with the blade style, grind, edge geometry and finish, and a handle material and shape purposefully designed and the end product is a superior edged tool.
I am no longer making a limited number of damascus knives of super-improved plow cable, or 1080/15n20. I can and have made several knives of damascus steel billets purchased from suppliers; so if you have seen something you like, let me know. I make knives by forging and stock removal methods. Unless stated otherwise, everything you see on this site was made by me.
I believe we never stop learning and improving and should never be satisfied. Having said that, what you can expect to see from me is continuous improvement and ever increasing quality.
Please be aware that every state has unique laws regarding knives. Should you use a knife from any manufacturer, you are responsible for ensuring compliance with all state and local laws and are legally permitted to purchase the particular knife. A maker should not and will not be held responsible for any non-compliance or unlawful use of knives.
Thanks for looking and enjoy.
